Daily Devotion - March 14, 2023

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! (Psalm 27:14)

A few years ago, a young couple waited anxiously to hear if they were going to be the proud owners of their “dream home.” But as one thing led to another, not only did the deal collapse but their faith took a tumble, too.

Their disappointment was the soil into which some seeds of doubt about God’s care began to sprout. They countered those sprouts of doubts by praying, and resolving to wait patiently to see what God was doing.  

Only when the inspector called with news of serious but hidden flaws in the house did they understand God’s plan. They had been spared the dangers of faulty wiring and pervasive mold. 

They were trying to make a deal; God was protecting their lives. Remembering this experience helped the young family face more of life’s inevitable disappointments with the courage and patience that comes from trusting God’s hand and plan.

The family had been praying that God would provide them a house for a few years, but he gave them faith for every trial. They had prayed for the home they wanted; he provided the heart they needed. 

Prayer: Lord, please give me courage to wait patiently and in faith for your answers to my prayers. Make me strong by trusting your hand and plan, as I thank you for providing more than I could ask or imagine!
