All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future — all are yours, and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's. (1 Cor. 3:21-23)

An old story goes something like this: A poor man spent years looking forward to a dream cruise. After finally saving enough money, he bought a ticket. But knowing he could not afford the luxurious food on board, the man packed some meager staples.

After a few days, his peanut butter crackers became stale and unappealing. So, the man begged the staff to let him work in exchange for food. “But sir,” the concierge said, “The meals are included with your ticket. You may eat all you desire.”

Sadly, this story can illustrate how many Christians live, believing that God has called them to a stale life of deprivation, instead of relishing the joy and fulfillment of accompanying the King of the Universe – with all his greatest blessings – on life’s journey.

In him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col. 2:3) – not simply matters of eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom. 14:17). Everything we need for our heart’s greatest fulfillment in this life or after has already been purchased for us by Jesus.

That’s grace and a very good life – and eternity.

Prayer: Lord, help me to realize that in Christ you have provided to every believer all things most precious. Thank you for providing all by the grace of an eternal relationship with Jesus and with you!
